Eigong (易公) is the main antagonist and final boss of Nine Sols (Game). She is the most prominent member and leader out of the Ten Sols. She had taught Yi 500 years ago before the events of the game took place. She carries the Sol Seal of Knowledge.
She was also the one who threw Yi down the cliff at the beginning of the game, and the culprit behind the Tianhuo virus.
Appearance[]
Eigong is an elder woman with light grey fur, wearing a teal coat decorated with gold over her lab suits. She is wearing an iron jewelry with crimson beads on her forehead, and the Fusang Tree's primitive roots, which she revealed, are replacing her hair. The wig is well-organized and decorated with beacons, which she can transform into combat lightsabers.
When she was younger, Eigong had cream colored fur, and her hair from the iron jewelry she wore was arranged in the form of a longer ponytail. Also, the color of the beads on her jewelry was vivid blue.
Story[]
Past[]
500 years ago, Eigong was originally a futurist scientist from the Tiandao Secret Research Center. At the end of the Origin Era, she conducted her long-cherished experiments on the immortality and eternal life of the Solarians, by using the commission of the Feng Clan as her main endorsement. But when she conducted experiments to combine the regenerative gene of the Fusang Tree's Primordial Roots with the experimented Solarians' cells, it resulted in the spread of the Tianhuo virus.
As a result, she revealed the Tianhdao Research Center to treat the Tianhuo Virus externally, and she traveled around Penglai's 9 Kingdom to find nine outstanding technicians, a process that was the beginning of the establishment of the Tiandao Council. However, her mind remained obsessed with finding a source for the Solarians to achieve immortality. When she heard from the Xia Kingdom about Yi's revival under the influence of the Fusang Tree, she treated him and took him as his pupil, hoping that she could use him to complete her theory.
During her search for a cure, however, Eigong realized that there was actually no cure, as the virus was a genetic factor that bestowed Solarians their intelligence. She then decided to put forth Yi's Eternal Cauldron Project and also Lady Ethereal's Soulscape System. But before New Kunlun's departure from Penglai, Ji revealed his uniquely secret constitution of why he had been eternally living without aging and having immunity to all diseases to Eigong. To Eigong, who failed to reproduce Yi's case to which her theory was perfectly applied, Ji's presence was like a godly, heavenly opportunity, and a worthy key to breaking the difficulties. So during the midst of the Eternal Cauldron Project, Eigong developed a serum for curing Tianhuo from Ji's genetic material. All of these experiments were done without Yi's knowledge. She also promised Nuwa to give the latter a cure as well by reanimating Fuxi for the devastated Nuwa.
When Yi tried to expose Eigong, it turned out she had succeeded in turning most of the council members to her side, and she tossed Yi off a cliff out of anger and disappointment. Finally, after Yi's fall and after the Eternal Cauldron Project's commencement, Eigong tried inoculating Fuxi and Dusk Guardians with that serum. But after prolonged testing, the serum proved to be an ineffective cure, adversely causing dangerous mutations in a few of the test subjects. In other words, many Solarians - including Chien - had become Mutants.
However, this mutated virus was able to absorb and mutate the gene of the Primordial Roots, barring Mutants from naturally dying. In addition, there were group consciousness and cooperation among these Mutants. Because of this outcome, Eigong considered the Tianhuo virus not a disaster, but a test from the cosmos and a gift for Solarians. Therefore, she was actually trying to implement an extreme plan for the Solarians to live forever, by infecting the Fusang Tree and mutating all the Solarians who will be born in the future. For this purpose, she told the council to lie to the public about them researching for a cure, and she had taken scientific measures to suppress her virus by inoculating her body directly with the mutant serum without the knowledge of council.
Present[]
500 years later, Eigong correctly guesses that Yi would try to regain control over the Eternal Cauldron Project, thus she lures Yi into collecting the other Sols' Sol Seals, then ambushes and steals the Sol Seals from Yi. Eigong eventually confronts Yi, and after a three staged boss fight infects the roots herself still under the belief that she can help all Solarians achieve immortality. However, her posthumous plan is foiled when Yi sacrifices himself by exploding the infected roots, thus ending Eigong's legacy once and for all.
Personality[]
Eigong is a genius scientist who strives to benefit the public, but deep down is obsessive with her goal of achieving immortality. Despite her vast knowledge, she is incredibly deceptive and selfish, deceiving Yi during his time as her pupil, and also ensuring Nuwa's loyalty for the council under the pretense of giving Fuxi a cure. Her arrogant selfishness is also the catalyst of driving her species to extinction. Ruthless and remorseless, Eigong firmly believes that one must forsake others - such as Humans - to accomplish their objectives even in her dying breath, refusing to acknowledge any of her faults of befalling everyone within her kin.
Trivia[]
- Eigong was originally going to have her English translated name to be Yigong, but this was changed to prevent players from misinterpreting her being biologically or directly related to Yi.
